How to Enable Ethernet in settings in iPhone, Android and iOS devices?

For iPhones and other iOS devices
The process is straightforward for iOS devices with either a USB-C or Lightning port, but you will need an adapter.
What you'll need:
  • An Ethernet cable connected to your modem or router.
  • For USB-C iPhones/iPads: A USB-C to Ethernet adapter.
  • For Lightning iPhones/iPads: A Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter AND a USB to Ethernet adapter. The camera adapter is necessary to provide enough power to the Ethernet adapter.
  • Steps to connect:
  1. Plug the Ethernet adapter into your iPhone or iPad's charging port.
  2. Connect the Ethernet cable from your router into the adapter.
  3. On your device, go to Settings.
  4. A new Ethernet option will appear in the settings list, often near the Wi-Fi option.
  5. Select Ethernet to view your connection details. For a standard setup, your device should automatically connect via DHCP

For Android devices

Similar to iOS, Android devices need a compatible adapter. Your phone must also be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher.
What you'll need:
  • An Ethernet cable.
  • For USB-C Androids: A USB-C to Ethernet adapter.
  • For older Androids: A Micro USB to Ethernet adapter.
  • Steps to connect:
  1. Connect the Ethernet cable to your adapter and then plug the adapter into your Android phone's charging port.
  2. Turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data. Some guides recommend putting your phone in Airplane Mode first.
  3. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Ethernet. The exact menu path can vary by device.
  4. Configure the settings as needed. The most common setup is DHCP for an automatic configuration.
  5. Your device should connect, and the Ethernet icon will appear in the status bar.
