A Video Guide on How to Disable the Auto Start-Stop Feature on Ford F-150 using FORScan

· · · Comments

The Auto Start-Stop feature is a technology designed by Ford to minimize the fuel consumption of your Ford truck by automatically shutting off the engine when it's idling. Some drivers, who do not like this feature, are finding ways to permanently disable it. There are many ways to disable the Auto Start-Stop feature. Using FORScan is the most common and often recommended solution since it's easier and safer to do.

A Youtube video from RLN Motorsports shows a step-by-step guide on how to disable the Auto Start-Stop feature on your Ford F-150 with FORScan. Check it out at the video below:

The Auto Start-Stop feature automatically shuts down and restarts your Ford truck's internal combustion engine to reduce the time spent by your engine idling. This in turn help minimizes fuel consumption and emissions of your truck. The Auto Start-Stop feature is most useful on Ford trucks that frequently stop in traffic jams or spend a lot of time waiting at traffic lights.

The moment your vehicle stops at a traffic light, your vehicle's engine will automatically stop running. At this state, you will still be able to use your lights, power doors, power windows, entertainment system, and HVAC systems. Your engine will restart as soon as you lift your foot on the brake. Then your vehicle will run as fast as if the engine had never stopped.  While some drivers embrace such technology, some are not as keen on adopting it and find it as an unnecessary interference to their overall driver experience. That's the reason why some are looking for ways on how to permanently disable it.
