How to Program a New PATS Key on a Ford C-Max using FORScan

· · · Comments

The PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key, also known as the transponder key, is a security feature from Ford that disables your vehicle's starter unless a specially programmed key is used. A PATS key is equipped with a computer chip that prevents non-PATS regular keys, even with the correct cuts, from working.

One convenient way to program a new PATS key is via FORScan. A video created by SY Diagnostics shows how to properly program a PATS key on a Ford C-Max using FORScan. Check it out at the video below:

Programing a new PATS key requires replacement keys that can be purchased via your dealer or a 3rd-party seller. The replacement key should be compatible with your vehicle in order to work. For vehicles equipped with PATS I technology, you will need to program using one working replacement key. For PATS II, programming a new PATS key requires two working keys, this would ensure and protect vehicle owners that only they can program duplicate keys.

Special thanks to SY Diagnostics for the amazing video. If you want to watch more of their videos, check out their channel here.

To program new PATS keys using FORScan, you will need a reliable FORScan adapter. Below are our featured OBD2 adapters that work flawlessly with FORScan.

Note: For FORScan coding modifications, we recommend using the OBD2 USB adapter for it provides a more stable connection.
