How to Code a New Fuel Injector with FORScan

· · · 8 comments

Changing to a new fuel injector requires you to code the new injectors to make them work properly with your vehicle. This can be done with the use of FORScan.

A video guide created by SY Diagnostics shows the steps on how to do it. Check it out on the video below.

Manufacturers have added injector coding into injectors to make it easier to adjust and comply with the ever-tightening emission regulations introduced since 2010. When fitting new injectors, you need to code them to signal the ECU to make appropriate calculations that will allow the engine to run the optimum performance compatible with the new injectors.

The industry standard injector code is the IMA coding (Injector Menge Abgleichung) by Bosch and Siemens. The codes typically consist of 6-24 alphanumeric characters depending on the type of the vehicle. Failure to apply the correct coding will result in engine performance inefficiencies, non-start, or poor or lumpy running.

To apply fuel injector coding using FORScan, you will need a reliable OBD2 device. Below are our featured OBD2 devices that work flawlessly with FORScan.

Note: For FORScan coding modifications, we recommend using the OBD2 USB adapter for it provides a more stable connection.
