How to Code your BMW on Android/iOS Phone and Mac Computer Using a K-Line or K+DCAN Cable

· · · Comments

The K-Line and DCAN interface are commonly used for BMW coding on E-Series models. The K-Line interface is compatible with most BMW E-Series models from 1996 up to March 2007. For BMW E-Series models from March 2007 onwards, the DCAN interface is used. Among the cables available for BMW coding  are the cable with the sole K-Line interface and the K+DCAN cable, which has a dedicated switch to shift between K-Line and DCAN interface. The K-Line and K+DCAN cables are normally used for coding on a Windows computer, however, you can also use them for coding on Mac computers and Android or iPhone devices. Here's the process on how to do it.

K-Line or K+DCAN Cable BMW Coding on Android and iOS Mobile Devices

Both the K-Line and K+DCAN cables are USB devices, so in order to connect them on a mobile device you will need a USB device adapter. For Android mobile devices, you will need a USB OTG adapter like this one. For Mac, iPhone, and iOS devices, you need a USB to iPhone or iOS device adapter like this one

You will then need to download and install an app for BMW coding on your iPhone or iOs, or Android device. Here are some apps commonly used:

1. BimmerCode App: Android and iOS

2. Carly App: Android and iOS

3. Torque App: Android and iOS

4. Deep OBD App: Android and iOS

5. BimmerLink App: Android and iOS

6. MHD Tuning: Download here

7. BimCOM: Download here

And many more Apps!

K-Line or K+DCAN Cable BMW Coding on Mac Computer

To connect the K-Line or K+DCAN cable to your Mac computer, you also need to have the USB to iOS device adapter like this one

Most of the BMW software used for coding, such as INPA, EDIABAS, NCSexpert, NCS Dummy, Tool32, WinKFP, etc, primarily run using Windows computers, thus you will need a Windows emulator app on your Mac computer. The common Windows Emulator for Mac are the following:

1. CrossOver App

2. VirtualBox

3. VMware Fusion

4. Parallels

And many more!

To code your BMW on an Android and iOS smartphone and Mac computer, you'll need a dependable K-Line or K+DCAN cable. Check out our cables below:
