How to Disable the Ford MyKey Settings using FORScan

· · · Comments

The Ford MyKey is a safety feature available in the newer models of Ford vehicles. The feature allows users to program keys with restrictions and driver-friendly safety settings, such as limits on the maximum speed of your vehicle, radio volume restrictions, and automatic seatbelt alerts. This feature is useful for those who want to develop safe driving habits or protect teen drivers who are using the vehicle. Once Ford MyKey settings are activated, some users find it hard to disable. Here's how you can do it using FORScan.

Things that you Need:

1. Windows laptop computer.
2. The latest version of FORScan software.
3. Blank transponder key (pre-cut)
4. USB OBD II Adapter

Step 1:

Plug-in the OBD II adapter to your vehicle's OBD II port and connect the USB device to your laptop computer.

Step 2:

Open the FORScan software and click the connect button to sync the software to your vehicle. Let it load to process the information on your vehicle.

Step 3:

Once the loading of information is complete, click on the "Wrench" icon that says  "Service Functions".

Step 4:

Access and click on "BdyCM PATS programming". Your original programmed key should be inserted in the ignition, it should be turned ON without the vehicle running. Then hit "Ok" and leave it as is. Make sure not to remove the key or turn off your vehicle.

Step 5:

Once the PATS module is accessed, click on "Ignition Key Programming". Then you need to turn your ignition OFF, remove the original programmed key, and insert the new unprogrammed key and turn the ignition ON. Make sure that the engine remains off, do not turn the key all the way. We only need to turn ON the electrical system of your vehicle but not get the engine running.

Step 6:

The system will then execute a security check for around 10 minutes. Once done, you will be asked to cycle the new key by turning your vehicle OFF and turn it back in ON position. Then you will be asked to turn your engine ON and up and running. Now you have successfully programmed a new key.

Step 7:

The next process is to disable the MyKey settings using the new programmed key. Go to the settings section of your dash and scroll down to "MyKey". Clear all the settings in mykeys, this will disable the settings activated in MyKey on all programmed keys.

To disable the Ford MyKey System in your Ford vehicle using FORScan, you will need a reliable OBD2 device. Check out these OHP OBD2 devices that work flawlessly with FORScan.

Note: For FORScan coding modifications, we recommend using the OBD2 USB adapter for it provides a more stable connection.
