Introducing the OHP OBD2 Adapter for Tesla Model 3 & Y 2019-2020 Build

· · · Comments

The OHP OBD2 adapter for Tesla Model 3 & Y is the latest addition to OHP's line of scan tools and diagnostic interface. To use this adapter, you will need an OBD2 device, a compatible diagnostic software, and a mobile device.

Since it is an electric car, the Tesla Model 3 and Y are exempted from the federal air quality regulators that require the OBD2 port for engine emission testing. Thus, unlike the Tesla Model S and X, the Tesla Model 3 and Y don't have a standard OBD2 port. Instead, you'll find a console connector accessible within the back seat of the vehicle. You can plug-in any standard OBD2 device in there using an adapter. The video below created by Bjørn Nyland shows you where to find and connect with the connector. Check it out at the video below.

The OHP OBD2 adapter for Tesla Model 3 & Y allows you to connect between two console connectors. It enables you to monitor your Model 3 or Y Vehicle CAN bus for data configuration and derive operational data from an OBDII port.

The adapter works flawlessly with any available OBD2 device in the market. You can select from a wide range of scan tools from wireless, USB to Bluetooth connection. It's also compatible with various third-party apps for iOS and Android users. These apps present a graphical "dashboard" of information about the Tesla Model 3/Y operation in real-time and actually allow you to use your smartphone or tablet as a head's up display.

The adapter is for Tesla Model 3 & Y 2019-2020 only. It is not compatible with an early TESLA built before January/Feb 2019. The Tesla Model 3 and Model Y shares the same platform, thus the adapter is also compatible with the Tesla Model Y vehicle.
