USB Cable Drivers

This page is for OHP USB cables: the ELM327/FORScan cable and the BMW K+DCAN cable. The drivers are free. Never pay a "driver" website for them.

Step 1: The easy way

  1. Plug the cable into a Windows PC that is connected to the internet.
  2. Wait 1 to 2 minutes. Windows Update installs the driver automatically.
  3. To check, open Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT) and look for "USB Serial Port (COMx)".

Step 2: If Windows didn't install it

  1. Download the Windows VCP driver (setup executable) from FTDI: https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/
  2. Run the setup file.
  3. Unplug the cable and plug it back in.

Troubleshooting

  • Try another USB port, and plug straight into the PC (no USB hub).
  • If FTDI's site won't load, try again later or from another browser or network, or email info@ohptools.com and we'll send you the link directly.
