Configuring the correct settings of the ENET cable is a crucial process when dealing with any BMW coding and programming software, such as ISTA. In this post, we’re going to show you the steps on how to properly set up the ENET cable when using the ISTA BMW software.

Before you configure your ENET cable and download the ISTA software, you need to make sure that your computer is compatible with the system and hardware requirements of ISTA. Your computer should have the minimum specs:

System requirements: 

• Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
• Hardware Requirements:
• 2.2Ghz CPU (2 Core Minimum)
• 4Gb RAM (8Gb Recommended)
• 60GB+ for ISTA-D (ISTA+)
• 100GB for ISTA-P (Programming)
• Note: Requires 160Gb Physical Drive for the last version of ISTA+

On the other hand, the ENET cable is only compatible with the F-Series and the latest G-Series BMW models. Before you connect it with the ISTA software, make sure that you’ve correctly configured the correct IP settings. First, is you go to your computer’s Local Area Connection Properties. Then open the network adapter properties under  “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”. Then enter 169.254.1.1 for the “IP address” and 255.255.0.0 for the “Subnet mask” sections.
