How to Activate Trailer Brake Controller with FORScan
The Trailer Brake Controller or TBC automatically applies the brakes on your trailer when the tow brakes on your vehicle are pressed. It helps in slowing down your trailer in a smooth and effective manner. If your Ford truck does not come with a trailer brake controller, you can install one and activate it using FORScan. Here's the process on how to do it.
Step 1. Download FORScan and activate the FORScan Extended License.
Step 2. Connect FORScan to your vehicle and access the IPC module.
Step 3. Sometimes there will be two IPC modules available. The IPC and IPC (As Built format). Select the plain IPC module.
Step 4. Under the IPC module, enable both the Trailer Brake Control Module and Trailer Brake Controller Gain Setting.
Step 5. Click "Write" to save changes. And you're done, you just activated the trailer brake controller on your Ford truck using FORScan!
To apply these changes using FORScan, you will need a reliable OBD2 device. These are our featured OBD2 devices that work flawlessly with FORScan.
Note: For FORScan coding modifications, we recommend using the OBD2 USB adapter for it provides a more stable connection.
